Future Reflections
During 2001 and 2002, The Media School, with research support from the Independent Television Commission (now Ofcom, the Office of Communications) and British Screen Advisory Council, worked with a group of senior industry professionals and opinion leaders on a project which used scenario analysis to explore some of the options that face the television industry over the next decade. In the past, business and policy decision makers have found the scenario analysis approach helpful in encouraging strategic thinking 'outside the box'. The technique has been applied to develop a better understanding of future issues and their implications at both corporate and national levels. This is one of the rare occasions when participants from across an industry sector have collaborated in creating a set of scenarios for the future. A Full Report (PDF 742kb) which presents a set of four scenarios for television in 2012 - together with associated issues and challenges - is available for downloading. A condensed version is also available. A hard copy of the Condensed Report (PDF 148kb) is available from Sandie Rose. For further information about the study contact:
