Centre for Broadcasting History Research - PeopleThe Centre has created - as a wider forum - the Southern Broadcasting History Group, which draws together broadcasting historians from a range of academic institutions in the South of England. It has acquired the LBC/IRN archive of 7,000 audio tapes, and will shortly prepare a bid for digitisation and cataloguing of this unique collection. It has set up the Radio Research Database in partnership with BUFVC. The Centre is now entering a period of growth, both in its membership and in its aspirations. At the centre of the Centre's strategy is the study of broadcasting archives. With a number of new Ph.D students working in this area, we are seeing an exciting development of the discussion base within the group, and a series of regular seminars is planned.
Advisory BoardAs part of the move to Centre status, an advisory board has been appointed. Membership is as follows: Professor John Ellis, Royal Holloway College, University of London International AdvisersPeter C Higgins, Lecturer, Media and Communications, University of Sydney, Australia |
