James Cleave is on the BA (Hons) Advertising and Marketing course and is just finishing up his 2nd year. Here's his take on life as an Advertising student:
"One major advantage of this course is the one-to-one and individuality we have with our tutors - I feel I can personally contact or meet them for any reason due to their friendly and approachable personalities. Seminars can be fun, as well as a great learning environment with their debates and relaxed atmospheres.
With the vast and frequent presentations we have to undertake throughout both years on the course, I find myself becoming increasingly confident in front of crowds of all sizes. It is extremely important to keep your cool under pressure, and this practice makes sure all worries and nerves are quashed before reaching the industry.
The course is not just about work though, as Bournemouth is a fantastic town to live in, with a nightlife rumoured to be 2nd best to London in the south. The student union club, The Old Firestation has always been an entertaining night out, especially with our seminar group all going out together in fancy dress to unwind from working hard in the week.
I have really enjoyed my time on this course so far and even though it can be hard at times, nothing worth having comes easy. I have one more year to go and the only regret I have is that the course is only three years long as I have met some amazing people and made some brilliant friends. Additionally, there is a high possibility that some of these friendships will broaden further into the industry in the near future and I look forward to maintaining my links with the university long after graduating. Id highly recommend this course to anyone."
