Journalism: Accredited by BJTC, NCTJ and PTC

The media school at Bournemouth University has become one of the leading institutes to study Journalism in the country. We were the first University to have a Journalism course accredited by all three major industry bodies.

All students are exposed to all elements of Journalism, across print, online and broadcast. We have distinguished industry speakers conduct master-classes with our students including Mark Thompson, the Director General of the BBC to Visiting Fellow Eve Pollard, the first woman editor of a daily newspaper.

Courses

Students on the BA (Hons) Multi-Media Journalism course also participate in NCTJ examinations. Therefore when graduating from the course they also have industry accredited exam results to accompany their BA honours degree.

Broadcast Journalism Training Council

BJTC is a partnership between the main employers in the UK broadcast industry. All BJTC accredited courses are based on their direct practical experience and are very much valued within the industry.

National Council for the Training of Journalists

NCTJ deliver the premier journalism training scheme in the UK. BU incorporates the preliminary qualifications in newspaper and magazine journalism, media law, public affairs and shorthand into the BA (Hons) Multi-Media Journalism degree, allowing you the opportunity to leave with not only a BA in Journalism but industry recognised exams results.

PTC is the leading body for best practice in training, development and people management for the magazine industry. They accredit and monitor courses who they believe offer best practice within magazine journalism.
