Skillset Media Academy
Bournemouth University's Media School is proud to be an accredited Skillset Media Academy.
Skillset is the industry body which supports skills and training across a wide range of Universities, business and organisations, to ensure the UK creative industry maintains their world class position.
Skillset Media Academies were created in response to the television and interactive media industries' desire to develop lasting partnerships with higher education institutions, such as BU.
All Skillset Media Academies provide an answer to the industries call for fresh talent and innovative graduates. This is done by setting new standards in higher education for the design and delivery of practice-based courses.
The 23 Skillset Media Academies were selected through a rigorous application and evaluation processes. They were assessed by industry evaluators drawn from the education sector and the television, interactive media and post production industries.
What this means to BU students
It means that all students that study within the media school are studying and creating work within a designated Skillset Media Academy.
Not only does this look great on your CV, it also shows future employers that you have studied within a University that has been labelled a centre for excellence in television and interactive media by industry leaders.
Being a Skillset Media Academy also means we have access to specialist bursaries, industry mentoring schemes, chances to host guest lecturers from industry as well as numerous other opportunities for our students to get involved with.

Skillset also further accredit three of the courses offered with Bournemouth University's Media School.
These courses have been accredited by Skillset to help you identify where the industry identifies best practice.
The Skillset Tick is a kite mark of quality indicating the media degrees and universities best suited to prepare you for a career in creative media
For a course to be awarded the Skillset Tick, it has undergone a rigorous assessment process conducted by experts working in the Creative Media Industries. They only give the Tick to those courses and universities that have the strongest links with industry.
