The Media School has been designated as the only Centre for Excellence in Media Practice by the Higher Education Funding Council for England.

The award recognises our commitment to innovation and excellence in learning and teaching. With over 25 years experience, the Media School offers high quality and industry-recognised degree courses in media production, journalism, communication, marketing and computer animation.

The Centre for Excellence in Media Practice is working with a range of industry and education partners to:

  • Create different ways of accessing higher education
  • Transform student learning experiences
  • Produce graduates who will shape the future of the creative industries
Flexible Experiential Professional

The Centre is outward-looking, open and inclusive. It is designed to have an impact across the sector and seeks to be an internationally-recognised leader in innovation and research in educational technology, curriculum design, and pedagogic method.

We are developing:

  • Innovative flexible learning courses
  • New ways of fusing theory with practice
  • Open e-learning resources
  • Live streamed events
  • Models for self and peer assessment
  • A code of practice for collaborations between industry and higher education
